Day 11 - It's a routine

I woke up this morning at 6.15. Another good night's sleep apart from a small interruption when Darcy was barking at something during the night. I got up to check that no-one was lurking around the house. Must have been a cat I reckon, because she quietened down pretty quickly when I called her back. I was able to get to sleep quickly afterwards.

The rash on my face was sore again this morning. The burning sensation was more pronounced that it had been over the past couple of days, but the redness that was there prior to me taking the antibiotics was still under control. I guess it was just because my skin was drying out. This is a common side effect for which we are advised to use Sorbalene cream. I have applied it to my face and neck 3-4 times each day so far.

Today is the first day I've actually felt a little dejected. I walked outside and saw that it was going to be a gorgeous summer day, and I should have gone for a run, but I didn't feel like it. Normally my mantra is that these are the days I need to run. Anyone can run when in the mood, but it takes real effort to get going when you're not. Besides, once out there I always feel good. I just couldn't get myself started this morning. Disappointing.

Vicki must have sensed something because before she left for work she mentioned to me that she would make her fabulous home made pizzas tonight for dinner. My absolute favourite. They are the best, and I got to use my special bicycle pizza cutter.

I took my time making breakfast. An Up N Go, toasted ham and cheese sandwich. I was still hungry so had another toasted sandwich and another Up N Go. I guess I may have just been hungry because I perked up a little after breakfast and felt like I could still go for that run, but the sun was already up and I have to worry about sunburn, so I didn't go.

I worked for most of the day because I had little else on. My radio therapy appointment was earlier at 2.20pm. I was back home by 3.30. It is routine now.

I made a fruit smoothie and noticed that the pineapple stung my throat a little. After finishing it, I laid down. A headache had been building all day, and it was getting pretty bad. I took some Panadol, but this didn't dent it. Fortunately I got a little sleep and woke up at 5.30, by which time Vic had arrived home from work. She was already busy preparing meals for us and a group of our daughter's friends who were coming over to our house prior to heading over to another friend's 18th birthday party. As well, she had arranged for our son and his friend to go to the movies and get dinner there. I woke up in time to take them to the movies.

The headache had not gone away, in fact, it was probably getting worse. Apart from this though, I felt fine and wolfed down Vic's pizza. I watched another YouTube movie starring John Cusack, which wasn't too bad. I can already see myself getting bored if I end up doing this all day.

My mouth was now horrendously dry, as were my lips. I was using the moisturising spray and mouthwash frequently. I used the paraffin / lanolin ointment on my lips. Both provided temporary relief. I was still drinking plenty of water - so much, that I'm actually getting sick of it too.

I fell asleep on the couch in the lounge room and woke up when I heard our daughter get home around midnight. I had to complete my normal M&T Routine and while there applied more Sorbalene cream to my face and neck. I've noticed that while it moisturises my dry skin it makes the rash appear worse, and worse still, it itches after applying the ointment. It is very uncomfortable. I ended up getting to bed around 12.30. With my mouth so dry now, I wasn't sure how I was going to go.
